Tiebreaker Pool Rules
All players who have not been eliminated by week 17 will be invited to participate in a bracket format playoff pool. This first involves picking the winners of the Wild Card round and then for those that are still tied after the Wild Card, picking an 8 team bracket and the Super Bowl winner along with a scoring tie-breaker.

This means that the winner can be declared after Wild Card weekend is completed IF someone emerges with the most points when those weekend's games are completed. If there is a tie in points after wild card weekend, the winner will not be decided until after the Super Bowl.

At the start of the playoff pool, all remaining player picks are reset and all playoff teams will be available to all participants, regardless of whether or not you picked a playoff team during the regular season.

Because of the nature of the playoffs, with seed position determining who plays who after the Wild Card round, you will first start with picking the Wild Card round. Everyone will receive one point for each correct game picked and no points for an incorrect pick.

After the Wild Card, if there is still a tie, those remaining will select teams from an 8 team bracket. This bracket will have the following scoring used:

Standard Scoring: Picking the winner of the conference playoff games will get you 1 point. Picking the conference championship winners will net you two points each and picking the winner of the Superbowl will get you four points.

Underdog Bonus Scoring: In the conference playoffs, if you pick an underdog to win and it wins, you will get two points for your pick. In the conference championship, if you pick an underdog to win and it wins, you'll get four points. And in the Super Bowl, if you pick the underdog and it wins, you'll get 8 points.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To get points for Underdog Scoring a player MUST correctly pick a team to win a game as an underdog AND that team must win the game as an underdog.

Detailed Pool Rules

How to Join
To join, go to the “Join The Pool” page after selections are made on March 16, 2005 and fill out the online form with your Last Name (LN), First Name (FN) and Pick Number (P#). For example, John Smith’s first pick would be Smith, John, 1. His second pick would be Smith, John, 2, etc. The pick number is used if you want to enter more than one pick sheet. If you will only enter one sheet, you may leave P# blank. Also enter the e-mail address that you use for the CCMC Yahoo group. Your name and e-mail address will NEVER be made available to a 3rd party and will only be used for participation in this and possible future pool tournaments.

You may enter as many times as you like. Each Entry requires a different pick number as part of your name. Entering the pool more than once requires you to fill out a new form with a different pick number for each entry. You will also need to pay $20 for each entry you sign up for.

Deadline for Joining
The deadline for joining will be 10:00 am PST September 10. You must have your first pick in by this date/time and must have made arrangements to pay for your picks by then. If you do not pay for your picks by the end of day on September 10 either directly or have agreement to pay by then through whomever referred you to the pool, your picks will be purged from the system and you will no longer be eligible for the pool.

How to Play
This is a "suicide pool." If you've never played a suicide pool, don't worry, the rules are very easy.

Each week of the NFL season, there are 16 games. All you need to do is pick a winner in one of those 16 games. If you do, you move on. If you don't, you get one strike against you. You continue to play each week until you accumulate three strikes, that is make three losing picks. At that point you are eliminated from the pool.

There is one other catch to playing: you can not pick the same team twice during the season. For example, if you pick the Indianapolis Colts to pick the New York Giants in week one, regardless of whether the Colts win or lose, you can no longer pick the Colts the rest of the season. This makes picking more and more difficult as the season progresses.

The Scoring System & Winning
Once the season is underway, a new pick sheet will be available online every Tuesday morning after the Monday night game. The site will be updated and your picks will be recorded. Your next pick will be due by 10AM Pacific Time the following Sunday, except during those weeks where games are played before Sunday, except for the first week. The Miami-Pittsburg game on September 7 is not eligible the first week. If you pick one of these teams, your entry will be bounced back to you. If for whatever reason you are unable to get a pick in by the appropriate time, you will be scored a loss for that week and therefore receive a strike.

However, if the team you pick ties its matchup, you will be credited with a win.

The further you go in the pool the more likely you are to win.

Tiebreakers
The pool is designed and is most likely to yield a winner by the end of the season. However, if there is more than one participant still in the running after the last game of the season, the person with the least number of strikes against them will be declared the winner. If all participants have the same number of strikes against them, the winner will be decided in sudden death suicide play in the playoffs.

The last player standing will be declared the overall tournament winner. The player eliminated before him wins the second place prize and the player before that will win the third place prize. If there's a tie for second or third places, then the money is split (ie if a tie for second, 2 people split the combined 2nd and 3rd place prizes 50-50; tie for third, 2 people split the combined 3rd place prize, etc.)

Prize Info
Please see the prize page for the latest info on the pool prizes.

Pool Extras
The Standings page will be updated after the Monday Night Game and will allow you to see how you're faring against the competition. You will also be able to see several other reports, such as Player Picks, where you can access everyone's completed bracket.

Disclaimer
If anyone is found to be cheating or violating the rules, they can and will be disqualified from this and future pools. Again, anyone who pays to enter, yet fails to get their picks in on time, will still have their cash added to the pool. When you enter this pool, your email address is added to our mailing list (this list will NEVER be sold to anyone), and whenever a new pool is started, you will be contacted to announce the details on joining. If you do not wish to be on the mailing list, just send a note to nfl@bkane.com to be removed from the mailing list. NO Rules will be changed once the tournament begins. Any problems with rules will be addressed before the tournament or after the tournament for the NEXT season’s pool.

Good luck and have fun!
